My friends John and Brooke welcomed Henry into the world about 6 weeks ago. The other day I got a chance to meet and photograph him. John had a sweater and a hat that he had worn when he was a baby that we were able to photograph Henry wearing too. Henry is just too adorable. Congrats to John and Brooke!

Even with the threat of severe weather on April 16th, 2011 (we are talking REALLY bad storms which thankfully went north of Charleston) Liz was one of the calmest and sweetest brides I have ever worked with. Liz and her bridesmaids started the day at Stuart Lawrence www.slsalon.com for makeup and hair. Then from there, we went on to the ceremony at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church www.mppc.net. The church has strict photography guidelines (which I always do my best to respect and follow). The ceremony shots were actually shot through panes of glass on a door. Ali at Carolina Food Design www.carolinafooddesign.com coordinated and planned the entire event and she did such a great job. Flowers by www.wildflowersinc.com and the cake which looked just like Liz’s dress was by Ashley Bakery www.ashleybakery.com. I loved all the details and the lighting at the Reception which was at the Lighthouse at Shem Creek www.shemcreekevents.com. During the reception Lee let his inner James Brown out with his version of “I feel good”. It was actually so good, that Emily and I thought it was the band until we looked closer. The actual band was The Coppertones www.thecoppertones.com and they were so much fun. The couple left by boat into Shem Creek. What a fun day. Congrats to Liz and Lee!
Liz and Lee were married this last weekend (pictures to follow soon!) and I have been dying to share some from her bridal portrait. We took these back in February and it was pretty chilly. Liz was a total trooper through it all. We started at the Palmer Home www.palmerhomebb.net and then ended at Boone Hall www.boonehallplantation.com. The cowboy boots were perfect for Boone Hall. Here are a few of my favorites from her bridal portrait session.
About a month before Chelsea & Ryan’s wedding, I met Chelsea at Magnolia Plantation www.magnoliaplantation.com for her Bridal Portrait. She brought her dog Mini who is a chi-poo (Chihuahua/Poodle Mix). I think she might have been one of the cutest dogs I have ever seen. After Magnolia we headed downtown with Mini for a few more in some of my favorite spots. Chelsea’s bouquet was by Anne at www.charlestonstems.com and hair and makeup by www.stellanova.com. Special thanks to her friend Mike and her Mom Beth for coming with us.
On Friday I met Lauren and Joe down at the beach for their engagement session. The spot where we met had thick bamboo and a great beach access path. I was loving the morning light that we had. Lauren and Joe brought a change of clothes for a dressier look. We had a great time and I am so excited for their wedding in June!
Chelsea and Ryan’s Reception was held inside the Carriage House at Magnolia Planatation www.magnoliaplantation.com. Southern Protocol www.southernprotocol.com planned the reception and it had almost everything you could imagine, a cigar roller, corn hull, a band – The Jimmy Snyder Trio and a DJ www.facebook.com/silvermansound. With Anne’s beautiful flowers www.charlestonstems.com, this reception was just a stunner. Chelsea changed out of her wedding dress www.whiteondi.com into one that Jodi at White made from Chelsea’s moms actual wedding dress. I could not believe how she transformed the dress from a long sleeved lace up dress into to the cutest little dress ever. Check out the bow in the back- that was the best part! Congrats to Chelsea and Ryan!
Chelsea and Ryan were married on Saturday April 9th at The Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation www.magnoliaplantation.com. The whole event had a southern chic flair filled with mason jars and damask print and was planned by Lizz at Southern Protocol www.southernprotocol.com. Chelsea and her bridesmaids got ready at the bridal suite at Stella Nova www.stellanova.com and she looked flawless! Anne at Stems www.charlestonstems.com had unique and southern arrangements (the Groomsmen had cotton instead of flowers for their boutonnierres). Chelsea and Ryan did a “first glance” on the beautiful white bridge at Magnolia and it was too sweet. Chelsea’s grandmother was joking that the bride and groom looked like Ken and Barbie and she brought the Ken and Barbie dolls to the wedding. I thought they would make for a fun ring shot. The day was so filled with special details, I need another post for the reception. Congrats to Chelsea and Ryan!
Now that she is officially a Mrs., (Congrats Christina and Eddie!!) I can finally post one of my favorite bridal sessions. How do you make an amazing Bridal portrait? First take one of the most beautiful Southern Protocol www.southernprotocol.com brides ever- inside and out. Then add a wonderful makeup artist- Pamela Lesch www.makeupartistcharleston.com. Final ingredient for the perfect bridal portrait- Flowers by Anne at Stems www.charlestonstems.com. Then head to the stunning William Aiken House www.patpropllc.com. Wedding pictures to follow in the future- stay tuned.
I was honored when my friend Michell (who is a fellow photographer www.blueskypictures.org ) asked me if I would come and photograph her wedding last weekend. I was also excited to find out that Pamela Lesch would be doing her makeup www.makeupartistcharleston.com. Michell and Eric were married on the beach. It was a small and intimate ceremony that joined their two families into one and it was just perfect. Congrats to Eric and Michell!
