This morning I met Jodie and Brad for their engagement session. Jodie and Brad just moved down here from Chicago, so we went to a couple of places that are very Charleston. The Cistern is where we started and then headed down to the Battery. Even though they went to rival schools (see last picture) they still love each other. I can’t wait for the wedding in May!

On Saturday Stacey and Chris were married at 5:30 at the Rumbling Bald Resort in Lake Lure, NC. I photographed Staceys sister’s wedding in May and was honored that they asked me to photograph Stacey’s wedding too. Stacey and Chris had a real vintage vibe that I loved.. from her hairstyle, to her dress, to the old time candy bar, to their getaway car (an old GT that was so cool), to their song “All you need is love” by the Beatles. The bridesmaids and Stacey had planned a special dance to start halfway into the father/daughter dance. The music stopped and Tina Turner started. The girls lit up the floor with their “Proud Mary” dance. There was even an old Jukebox in the house they were staying at that we took pictures in front of. The wedding ceremony was supposed to take place near the gazebo by the lake, but the rain started pouring down and it was moved to the Terrace, which looked beautiful. A special thank you to the Spicers for having me again, I had so much fun! Cheers to Stacey and Chris!

This morning I met Chelsey and Justin at the Cistern for their engagement session. They both went to the College of Charleston so this is a special place for them. We met early, which was great, it was empty there. They drove 2 and a half hours down from North Carolina to do these, and I was so glad the rain held off. You can tell by the pictures, they are a fun couple and I am looking forward to the wedding in May.

Kim and Ron at Beyond Expectations Catering www.beyondxpectations.com asked me to come and photograph some of their food and displays tonight. Beyond Expectations always does an impressive job. Ron’s displays are like nothing I have ever seen before. The fish are carved out of melon and look so realistic, with gills and all. Kim told me it takes hours for Ron to carve the cheese fortress and I believe it. The food was so pretty, it was hard to imagine anyone eating it.

Amy and Heath met me downtown tonight for their engagement session. They are getting married in April here in Charleston. We found a couple of my favorite places (my bench
and then headed down to waterfront park. The cloudy weather must have scared everyone away from the park, because we had it almost all to ourselves. Here are a few from tonight’s session.

Ok, I admit it, I have a weakness for camera gear- especially lenses. I finally broke down and got myself a macro lens, which takes extremely close up shots. Macro lenses are great for those close up ring shots at weddings. Flowers are also another great subject for this lens. Here are a few I took today playing around with my new lens.

Newborns are so sweet. Today I photographed Emmet who is only 2 weeks old. He is so mellow and cute! It was nice to have both Sally and Scott there for our session. I can’t wait to see this little guy again in a couple of months. Congratulations to Scott and Sally!

Yesterday at 6:00 pm, Tricia and Mike were married at Middleton Place Plantation in a celtic-themed wedding. Instead of bridesmaids, Tricia had her two brothers as “Men of Honor.” They took great care of her, even helping her with her dress during the ceremony. They had the cutest little ringbearer who had a plaid cap that was adorable. Doug Farmer officiated the ceremony which included celtic traditions such as drinking from the cup. Guests were transported to the reception in a horsedrawn carriage. What a perfect night! Cheers to Tricia and Mike!

The last time we attempted Jenna’s Senior portrait, it was about 95 degrees and 100% humidity. We got through the session, but it was so hot, we decided to do them again when it cooled down a little. The farm was great for photographing, and this time, she suggested we go in the back and use this really cool old truck for a background. I loved it! It started to rain towards the end and a rainbow popped out of the clouds. Here are a few from today:

Tonight at 5:00 pm, Lenora and Kenneth renewed their vows after 25 years of marriage. Kenneth surprised Lenora with a new ring (she had no idea, it was so sweet.) All four of Lenora’s bridesmaids from her wedding 25 years ago came today and we thought it would be fun to get a picture of them all together again. After the vows were renewed, there was a tribute to their heritage with drums and dancing. I was thrilled to come and be a part of this occasion. Congratulations to Lenora and Kenneth, may the next 25 years be as good as the first.
